Where did the name ‘TULA’ come from?

Tula means balance in Sanskrit, which perfectly describes everything we stand for.

What is the science of Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, or ‘the science of life’, dates back more than 5,000 years, yet it is more relevant today than ever before. According to this ancient science, there are three ‘Doshas’, or mind/body types – Vata, Pitta, Kapha. Your Dosha is your fingerprint, unique to you. And each Tula Meal is customised for your specific Dosha with a balanced variety of dishes to help you eat and live well.

Why does Tula combine Ayurvedic principles within its menu?

We believe that each one of us carries an edible archive within our bodies and minds, and that good health starts with good digestion. There is an Ayurvedic saying that “When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use; When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.”

According to this diet, your Dosha determines which foods you should eat to promote inner balance. When the Doshas are balanced, we are healthy; when they are unbalanced, we develop ailments, which manifest themselves through our skin, poor digestion, insomnia, irritability, and anxiety.

The Pitta dosha focuses on cooling, energizing foods and limits spices, nuts, and seeds. Meanwhile, the Vata dosha favours warm, moist, and grounding foods while restricting  dried fruits, bitter herbs, and raw veggies. Finally, the Kapha dosha limits heavy foods like nuts, seeds, and oils in favour of fruits, veggies, and legumes.

Does Tula have vegan dishes on the menu?

Almost half our menu is vegan! There is a great deal of variety and choice of vegan dishes within Indian food. We will bring you a rotating menu of seasonal, fresh and meat-free options. These are clearly marked on our website menu and delivery-platform menus too.

Is Tula packaging recyclable?

Our bowls are both home and commercially compostable. All our bowls are made from rapidly renewable sugarcane pulp, a by-product of the sugar refining industry. It is suitable for the freezer, microwave and the oven. Whilst the RPET lids on our bowls are recyclable and must be disposed of in the recycling stream – we are working hard to find a plastic free solution.

Do you have any allergen-free products?

We avoid using allergen ingredients where possible. We always ensure that the latest information is on our recipe pages and on the product labels, so please check these out for more info.

Do you use additives, preservatives or flavourings?

We will always avoid artificial additives, preservatives, flavourings or anything nasty in our recipes.

Are Tula meals healthy?

What and how we eat is a large part of how well we live and that’s why at Tula we pay attention to the rhythms of nature, use fresh ingredients and healing spices to create meals that are customised to your body type.

Our nutritionist and chef develop all Tula recipes in collaboration with Dr. Mathew, a widely respected Ayurvedic specialist to bring a balanced variety of dishes to help you eat and live well.

How does Tula give back to the community?

We’re currently partnering with a soon-to-be-announced charity to help with reducing waste and hunger.
